Education at RBS

Rotterdam University uses a credit system called the European Credit Transfer System, (ECTS). The credits reflect the amount of time the average student needs to master a subject. This is called ‘study load’ (although studying does not necessarily have to considered as a load!). One credit equals a study load of 28 hours.

The study has been organised in such a way that you can obtain 60 credits per year. A Bachelor programme of 240 credits in total consists of a propaedeutic year of 60 credits and a main phase of 180 credits. The Bachelor programme starts with the propaedeutic phase. When all propaedeutic examinations have been passed, the Propaedeutic certificate is awarded, which gives access to the post-propaedeutic or main phase.
