Alumni
The Rotterdam Business School is proud to announce the launch of its very own Alumni Association.
By establishing this Association, we expect to bring international networking opportunities to RBS alumni in all corners of the world. Our alumni are of huge importance to our institute, not only in actively supporting our recruitment efforts both locally and globally, but also by way of creating opportunities for our current students in many aspects. In return, we will offer our alumni the opportunity to enlarge their networks, to participate in upcoming events and enable them to continue their lifelong learning experience throughout years to come.
Alumni Kick Off was a succes
Thursday May 20th the first edition of the RBS Alumni Association event took place. This event will be held twice every year.
To start with the overall feeling and atmosphere: it was a success! Even though many of the registered alumni couldn’t make it on time, 31 of our former students were present and enjoyed this historic evening together with their lecturers and staff members. TMA could welcome 9 alumni, IBMS 10, IBL 7 and the Graduate Department 5 in all.
Programme first edition
The evening started with a light dinner at the Café and after a word of welcome by the Vice Dean Ard van Aken, Han Leenhouts took the floor with an appealing Master Class on networking and positioning yourself amidst different surroundings. It was also an exercise in putting theory into practice for many of the alumni were asked to contribute in a very active way to this evening’s topic.
The event ended with (extended) drinks at The Café and a further renewal of acquaintances combined with making new friends as well. The immediate and overall reactions were not only positive but also highly noticeable in our survey: no less than 13 alumni have applied for a position as member of the Alumni Board.
The event met the expectations of the attendants too; the topic was considered to be relevant to the careers of the majority of the alumni. The educational level of this Master Class was highly rated as well. These results, combined with the high rating of the way in which the evening was organised, have not only increased the enthusiasm of the organising committee but have urged us to maintain this level of realising expectations and keeping the networking alive as well.
Alumni board
So what are the next steps to be taken? First, start the procedure for the election of the Alumni Board, share the results with everyone involved and create an online environment where we can continue meeting each other and keeping the RBS Alumni spirit alive.
We are looking forward to the next edition in November 2010 and we will keep all of you informed!
